Kenya has been studying dance since the age of ten. In 1999, she began her Bellydance journey on Long Island at Renate's Studio which then led her to Yousry Sharif, a Master Teacher of Egyptian Bellydance. Kenya has traveled to Egypt, where she studied different aspects of the dance intensely with other Master Teachers including Raqia Hassan. Kenya has also trained in ballet, modern, African, Haitian folklore, and other Caribbean dances.
Kenya's love for Bellydance prompts her to continuously train and study this ancient art form, so that she is well versed to teach her students. Kenya teaches several dance classes a week, and is the Director of her own Dance Company, Bijou Bellydance - a.k.a. Belly Gems n' Jewels. In the future, Kenya hopes to share her gift of dance with the world!
